So, what do you suggest for a teenager, a dirt bike or an ATV? Also, what's the best size for two riders? I'm thinking whatever I get, it should be used, especially since this is a gift for first time riders.

It depends on a lot of factors:
1) Do you have any riding experience at all?
2) How old are you? The answer may be very different for a 13 year old than a 19 year old.
3) How tall / heavy are you? You need a bike / quad that will be comfortable to ride and easy to manage.

I'd suggest going and renting one for a day to find out what you like. Don't go too big, you can hurt yourself pretty easily - you may want to start off with a small four stroke 250 dirtbike.

I'd personally get an ATV, but just like TerryMason said, you should try renting one for a day. Dirt bikes are really cool, but nothing compares to the power of a 4x4.

i will stick with ATV. Agreed that dirt bikes are more fun but its very risky and you kind of feel dirty riding them

ATVs are always better for teenagers. Because they have this tendency to speed, and ATVs are alot more safer comparatively.
